Provincial Programs Supporting Indigenous Employment
The Ontario government funds several programs to improve Indigenous employment outcomes. The Indigenous Economic Development Fund supports Indigenous businesses that create jobs in their communities. The Ontario Public Service has an Indigenous Internship Program that provides entry-level government experience for Indigenous youth. Additionally, Treaty organizations such as the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians, and the Grand Council Treaty #3 employ hundreds of people in roles spanning health services, education, justice, and lands and resources management.
