Job Description
STS Pain Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This position supports pharmacists in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered pharmacy services. The successful candidate will assist with medication preparation, prescription processing, inventory management, medication deliveries, and maintaining accurate patient records while ensuring compliance with all
applicable pharmacy standards and regulations.
Due to the clinical nature of this role, preference will be given to candidates who hold a pharmaceutical degree or an equivalent internationally recognized pharmacy degree. Candidates who are pursuing, or intend to pursue, pharmacist licensure in Canada are encouraged to apply. Job Duties
Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
Process prescription orders, including data entry and insurance verification.
Prepare blister packs, compliance packaging, and unit-dose medications.
Maintain medication inventory by receiving, organizing, stocking, and monitoring medication expiry dates.
Assist with medication deliveries to hospitals, shelters, and community partners.
Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective medication management.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with applicable privacy legislation.
Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate customer service by responding to patient inquiries and
addressing concerns.Operate pharmacy software and other computer systems used for prescription processing and record management.
Follow all pharmacy policies, quality assurance procedures, workplace safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience in a pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, community pharmacy, or similar healthcare setting.
Completion of a Pharmacy Assistant certificate program (typically 6–12 months), completion of secondary school
with several months of relevant on-the-job training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Preference will be given to candidates who hold a pharmaceutical degree, or an equivalent internationally recognized pharmacy degree. Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication handling, pharmaceutical terminology, and inventory
management.Experience using pharmacy software and prescription processing systems is an asset.
Valid BC Driver’s License.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize work, multitask, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated commitment to patient confidentiality and professional ethics.
