About Lokanta Mediterranean Café

Lokanta Mediterranean is a small, family-run restaurant in Historic Port Dalhousie. It was founded by a Turkish chef and his wife, who believe food is a powerful way to bring people together and create a sense of belonging.

We cook using traditional Mediterranean recipes, simple ingredients, and time-honoured techniques. Our space is warm, welcoming, and rooted in the community. We value creativity, compassion, and teamwork.

About the Job

We are looking for a Line Cook to help prepare our daily mezzes selection, cook brunch on Sundays and bake our croissants, cookies and scones on the weekend. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys working with fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and taking pride in their craft.

Main Responsibilities

• Bake croissants, breads, cookies, and scones

• Prepare traditional Mediterranean mezze dishes

• Keep your workspace clean, organized, and food-safe

• Help with preparation lists and ingredient organization

• Work closely with the chef, colleagues and owners to plan the daily menu

• Follow all food safety and hygiene rules

Work Hours: weekdays 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Saturdays 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Sundays 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (as needed)

Who We Are Looking For

• Experience as a line cook/prep cook (restaurant)

• Experience with Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Turkish, Balkan, or European cooking is an asset

• Able to work early mornings and weekends

• Reliable, organized, and motivated

• Able to work calmly and respectfully in a small team

• Values diversity, inclusion, and equity

• Enjoys making food that brings people together
